Book Title : Beyond Paper Straws and Electric Cars: A History of African Sustainability and its Future as a Climate Conscious Continent.

This book, written by the Chadian climate activist Hindou Oumarou Ibrahim, is intended as an informative and inspiring introduction to African ideas around sustainability and climate action. To be published by Bloomsbury, this book will enhance their environment and climate list which currently holds no titles about African approaches to the climate crisis.

Split into eight chapters covering six themes – such as farming, clothing and travel – each section will feature a case study of a specific country so as to appear accessible for readers who might be new to the topic and avoid generalisation. Featuring an introduction that will touch on topics of environmental/ecological injustice and whitewashing in climate activism, the book will also feature a number of graphs, maps and simple illustrations to create a thoughtful, engaging and educational book.
