GETTING SET UP

  1. Log into Myblog arts and find this site (if you are not logged in you can’t get in to edit it)
  2. On the top of the site you can see the blog title – MA Publishing book proposals – hover and you can get onto the dashboard.
  3. In dashboard on the left menu you can click posts – then add new.
  4. Once you have started a new post it will say add title – put your NAME as the title – not the book title – that way you can easily find your post using the SEARCH. This will not appear on the front page as it will show an image instead but your name will appear as you hover over.
  5. Add in the section you are working on (as per timetable). Everything works as a block in wordpress so it will keep automatically adding a block when you press return or have a paragraph.
  6. THEN Add an image – set this as a FEATURED image – see menu on right – note top tab must be POST – then add in an image here and give it alt text. You can find images uploaded (though some are mine some will be other people’s so check that) or upload your own – don’t over think this – something generic is fine but copyright free of course.

This sets up your post – and you will then go back in to edit it each time you add a bit more.

Book title next

Next start your main post by putting your book title in and set it as a HEADING – so it will stand out under the image as a heading (your name will appear at the side). To make a heading hover over your block and it will bring up the formatting menu – use the paragraph sign and it will show you can change your block to a heading.

Next block will be back to normal and you can then include your text – you can cut and paste into it.

Add a category so we can find it under the genre headings – using the POST menu again on the right side of your screen – scroll down until you see category – tick the one that is yours and save.

Finally so that it will show the image in the front page on the right menu again under post tab – where it says status and visibility – select the post format to show the image not the text – your name will then appear when we hover – and you can search for your post easily in the search box using your name when you want to edit it.

And the remember to tick PUBLISH or UPDATE as you finish – BLUE BOX AT THE TOP (it will say one or other depending if the post is new or being edited).
